Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a custom furniture order? It’s a journey filled with creative collaboration, thoughtful design choices, and a lot of communication. We recently had the pleasure of working with a client, Bibi Fatima Akoojee, on a unique mosaic table and chairs, and her experience perfectly captures the process.

The Vision

It all started with a simple question: “Can you customize a design of hearts?” Bibi had a clear vision for her outdoor space. She wanted a mosaic table with multiple hearts in a mix of pink and blue/green tones. For the background, she envisioned natural colors like sand, stone, and cement, with an extra touch of “shimmer glittery effect” from mirrors.

Collaborating on the Design

Our team, led by Tami, jumped right in. We sent Bibi pictures of different pink shades and mosaic backgrounds to ensure we were on the same page. A key part of our process is to offer expert advice to make sure the final product is not only beautiful but also practical. Our designer raised a concern that the blue hearts might get lost against the background colors, suggesting that pink hearts would stand out better.

Bibi, however, had her heart set on both colors. Together, we found a perfect compromise: we would use pink hearts on the table and chairs, but incorporate the blue tones as a border detail. This ensured the hearts would pop while still including the blue color she loved.

From Confirmation to Creation

Once the design was finalized, Bibi paid the 60% deposit, and our team got to work. We kept her updated every step of the way, even confirming that we hadn’t forgotten the mirrors for the shimmering effect. We also confirmed the table would be a 1-meter size with four chairs, all of which are fully weatherproof and come with a 10-year guarantee.

The Final Product

After a few days of casting the table and chairs, we were ready to share the first glimpse. Tami sent Bibi a photo of the completed table. The final product was stunning, with the mirrors beautifully reflecting light to create the desired shimmer. Bibi was thrilled, immediately asking for confirmation that the chairs would be “exactly the same… with the mirrors as well.”

The final delivery was scheduled for a Monday, as Bibi wouldn’t be available for collection on the weekend. We were happy to accommodate her request, making sure the entire process, from initial enquiry to final delivery, was seamless and stress-free.

This project is a perfect example of how open communication and creative collaboration can bring a unique vision to life. If you have a custom project in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out! We’d love to help you create something beautiful.
